Jute Bag

In its quest for spreading the word “green” around, HARYALI WELFARE SOCIETY is continuing its momentous task in making the environment around you and CLEAN. This time we have taken the initiative to spread the awareness about the pros of using “JUTE” in daily life instead of PLASTIC.

Most people are not aware of the hazard on our environment when certain materials are produced for certain products. One of those products is plastic. As you might know items that come from petroleum are detrimental to the earth.

Plastics are of no exception. They are non-biodegradable and perpetuate damage to our eco-system. On the other hand JUTE is natural fiber. Jute is a rain fed crop which means it doesn't need harmful pesticides and fertilizers to grow. The great thing about JUTE is that it's bio-degradable, reusable and durable. That’s why we are supporting the need of using JUTE as a supplement to PLASTIC.

HARYALI WELFARE SOCIETY is distributing special 5,000 JUTE BAGS to the people free of cost so that we can widespread the awareness of JUTE and kick plastic out of daily use. We also request people to spread the same words and help in making the mother EARTH a GREENER and CLEANER place to live.

JUTE FACTS -

  • JUTE Bags are eco-friendly.
  • Jute is 100% bio-degradable.
  • Jute is a fast growing crop with a much higher carbon dioxide
  • assimilation rate than trees.
  • Jute production creates much needed employment in poorer
  • regions of the world.

MORE JUTE FACTS -

  • Abundant availability – a renewable and sustainable resource
  • Durable material – has the life span of over a thousand plastic carrier bags
  • Jute is a natural baste fiber, a vegetable fiber composed of cellulose which is the main building material of all plants, like all natural fibers jute is totally biodegradable. Baste fiber grows the entire length of the plant stalk from roots to tip. Groups of fibers are contained in the pithy layer between the thin outer bark and the woody core.
  • When discarded, jute totally decomposes putting valuable nutrients back into the soil.
  • Environmentally friendly – non pollutant produces non toxic gases or harmful gases by product.
  • Jute industry supports an estimated 5 million people in the poorest regions on earth.
  • One hectare of Jute plants consumes over 15 tones of CO2, several times higher than trees.

SAY NO TO PLASTIC

  • Plastic bags are made of polyethylene
  • Polyethylene is a petroleum product
  • Production contributes to air pollution and energy consumption
  • Four to five trillion plastic bags are manufactured each year
  • It takes 1000 years for polyethylene bags to break down
  • As polyethylene breaks down, toxic substances leach into the soil and enter the food chain
  • Approximately 1 billion seabirds and mammals die per year by ingesting plastic bags
  • Plastic bags are often mistaken as food by marine mammals. 100,000 marine mammals die yearly by eating plastic bags.
  • These animals suffer a painful death, the plastic wraps around their intestines or they choke to death
  • Plastic bag choke landfills
  • Plastic bags are carried by the wind into forests, ponds, rivers, and lakes
Choosing a Jute bag (and reusing it) is an effective way, you can help our environment.
