Oxygen production, cleaning the soil, controlling noise pollution, slowing down storm water runoff, acting as carbon sinks, cleaning the air, providing shade and coolness, being windbreaks and fighting soil erosion can be considered as the first few reasons why trees are priceless.

The recommended minimum forest cover is about 33 % of total geographical area which has already come down to 29 % .In many countries including India the forest cover is as low as 20 % which is a great matter of concern.

How much CO2 can a tree absorb in one day?
Based on the average of 7.5 to 13 kg per year, divide that by 365, and you get an answer of roughly 0.020 and 0.036 kg per day.
How much Co2 does the average car release per kilometre?
its about 166 gpk (grams per kilometer(approx)

God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease,
avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods.
But he cannot save them from fools.

The benefits from these trees spread far beyond villages to our homes in Cities, School and Communities as well. Trees remove from the global atmosphere great quantities of carbon dioxide, the major “Green House Gas” responsible for global climate changes.

Trees play a major role in purifying the air we breathe. The air is filtered by the Trees and returned to the atmosphere at the time of photosynthesis. Trees provide us with oxygen, which is essential for the existence of life, “WITHOUT TREES THERE WOULD BE NO LIFE”. The dust particles & other pollutants, which causes major diseases like asthma and lung cancer, get stuck on the leaves of the trees resulting in fresh air reaching us. Rain then washes the pollutants to the ground. Leaves absorb pollutants such as Ozone, Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide and Sulphur dioxide and give off oxygen.

Trees acts as a sound barrier & provides protection against crowding & noise pollution without which these can lead to mental fatigue & stress.

A part of water taken by plants is given out by the leaves in the form of water vapour by a process called transpiration. These vapour then form clouds resulting in rain.

The downward fall of rain, sleet & hail is initially absorbed or deflected by trees, which provides some protections for people, pets & buildings. Trees intercept water, store some of it & reduce storm runoff & the possibility of flooding.

Temperature in the vicinity of trees is cooler than that away from trees. The larger the trees the greater the cooling. By using trees in the cities, we are able to moderate the heat island effect cause by pavement & buildings in commercial areas. We like trees around us because they make life more pleasant. Most of us respond to the presence of Trees beyond simply observing their beauty. We feel serene, peaceful, restful & tranquil in a grove of Trees.
