Trees are integral part of our lives; they provide us with oxygen, fruits, shade, shelter, scenery, medicine, construction material, energy. They are associated with all five elements of life earth, sky, air, fire, and water. They also remove co2 from air which has spiked in recent decades and has been linked to global warming.
Trees are our childhood friends, I remember, when we used to play games on and around trees, eat fruits. They capture our imagination; it's hard to imagine any scenery without trees. During my youth, I always enjoyed watching lush green trees around me and it felt good under a tree, while sitting and walking to my classes during hot summer days in Delhi. |
Trees will always be relevant in our lives as they are key to life on earth. Two trees can provide enough oxygen to support a family of four. By that yardstick India should have 0.565 billion trees and Delhi should have at least 6.89million trees with density of 4647 trees per sq km dedicated to support its population. Furthermore, with increasing vehicles (5.5million) and expected rise in population (40% by 2020). It is imperative that more trees are planted in Delhi and surrounding areas in order to support life. |

The development of civilization has been dependent on wood based technologies. Where would we be without such aspects of our culture as fire, agriculture, the wheel, the use of metals, spinning, weaving, water and land based transport, building, and printing? Our technological culture could not have developed without wood. On many people trees exert a powerful emotional influence. To many of us a tree is a thing of spiritual sustenance and renewal. The tree is the embodiment of mankind's condition: birth, life, death, regeneration and rebirth. The rising sap is the spirit of life and seeds and fruit are the symbols of fertility. Trees are the largest and longest living organisms on earth. To grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of

the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above. By means of photosynthesis Trees also remove carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, from the air.
Trees are of continued importance to the environment. Tropical rain forests have of particular significance; although they now occupy less than 6 per cent of the land surface of the earth they probable sustain more than half of the biological species on the planet.
Notwithstanding the debt we owe to trees, their emotive power, and their importance to other forms of life, the forested area of the earth is steadily being depleted. This is leading to the degradation of the environment and the extinction of many species. There is now a real danger that in the not very distant future man will destroy a large proportion of the present population of species on earth, create an uninhabitable environment, and then die out himself.
I don’t think this is the kind of future we want to leave for our coming generations. So let us all unite at HARYALI and bring the “green smile” back on our mother Earth’s face before there is nothing left to save. |

To ensure our upcoming generations breathe clean air and live a healthy life, we should be planting more and more trees. Haryali is a step that will take you close to nature and make you understand what environment means to us. Planting trees itself is a fun, initially they are like child who needs love and protection, but once grown up they pay you back without fail with tremendous amount of interest, interest which could not be measured by monetary means.
It’s a humble plea to all to wake up and become little conscious towards environment.
Let’s gift the clean and green environment to our upcoming generations, where they can live freely and happily. |
So friends lets regain all your senses and wake up your conscience, start acting now before it's too late....
join our campaign to save the nature...
join haryali...
Join haryali and make it a national campaign....... |

Haryali is an aspect to awake everyone towards an imperative nature's creation, with which, this life has to survive. It is an initial step for us to save our environment so as to save our existence. "Jiwan Anmol hai uski khaatir hi sahi Pedh Bachaoo aur lagaoo, nahi to kaam se kaam kaato ya katwaoo to maat".
It should be a global enthusiasm, but we have to start from our self....."Kuch to life me Neek Kaam karo, Haar Cheez Paiso ke liye Nahi Hoti"
|
 |
If we look at our surroundings, we will notice that masses of Trees are cut down on sake of development.....Think deeply that, these trees are helping us to grow from beginning...., give us beautiful, fresh & comfortable environment to live...So, can’t we, as human, give a thought for their wellbeing?
"Save Trees" is not just a slogan to speak or to listen, it is, a persona, which should be followed by all, so as to save ourselves and our upcoming generation.
Hence, Haryali is being founded to create a good ambiance and it is also a great opportunity for people, who have always wanted to be "a part of a healthy environment."
My Self Chitr Bahadur Kunwar a Creative Professional contributing some efforts toward environment and so as toward my society.....
(Aap bhi kuch kariyee apni society aur paryawaran ki khaatir) |
| "Trees purify the air, Provide land Fertility, Save us from Natural disasters, that's how we survive ;think deeply which way we have to step on……till today You Slept much .....now AWAKE!! & SAVE THIS WORLD FOR YOUR UPCOMING GENERATIONS..... |

"Arrey Ruk Jaa re Bandeh, Arrey Tham Jaa re Bandeh, Ki Kudarat Has Padegi
Samay Kee Laal Aandhi, Kabristaan ke raste, tujhe lath Path Karegi"
These Lines from an Indian Ocean Song called Bandeh, Appeal to the generic current society, which in their pursuit of their ambitions and their targets and to live a "Big Life" is going against nature in a major way. They fail to realize that "Nature loves its little surprises"- Suddenly you have a Tsunami or an Earthquake and all our hopes and dreams are razed to the ground-Nature reminds us that the moment we break the rules we must pay.
I have great respect for traditional village societies, where animals and nature form an integral part of the society and great respect is shown towards nature as the "mother". A walk in the wilderness gives me eternal peace and tranquility! |
I am Suraj and I am very passionate and concerned about the environment. I express and try to communicate my concern and try to make the other people think and reflect about these issues through music and songs. Being close to nature and studying natural phenomenon, Understanding and working on holistic living concepts such as Ayurveda, Organic farming are somethings I am very interested in as an individual.
I have these lines to say :
"Ghar ho chahe chota sa, par ho zaroor pedo kee chao
Tau hosh mei aaoo, josh mei aoo…..aur thode se ped lagao…!"
So do something-Anything-plant some trees (Trees like neem are a BOON to the mankind), have a potted plant in your home, have a vegetable garden, learn Gardening, go to a farm sometime and see how the food you eat is grown..learn and understand well that each one of us is nurtured and taken care of by our very own mother earth and nature! |

It is not just the plantation of trees in a segregated area but their management as a whole which also includes the plantation near residential places which can aid the human being. If the government believes that the substitute for the so called "development" is to remove and plant them in a deserted area just to prove that they have not reduced the green area, then as a true human being it is our responsibility to let them aware of the consequences that we might face in the coming future. European have done it relatively well in this regard and we can take leaf out of their book. They have been making similar efforts to prevent a disaster in making, its about time we should come forward.

| Efforts must be made to increase the green belt near cities. Villages in India are still underdeveloped but happy to mention that they are still green. Cities reflects the state of a graveyard with ugly concrete structures. |
Here are some of the most commmon reasons which make the survival of the trees a necessity :
Trees consumes carbon dioxide and in turn provides us with oxygen which is necessary for us to live. Trees help reduce the "greenhouse effect" by absorbing CO2. One acre of trees removes 2.6 tons of CO2 per year. Two mature trees provide enough oxygen for a family of four.
By cooling the air and ground around them, the shade from trees helps cool the Earth's temperature.
Trees are good noise barriers, making a city and neighborhood quieter.
Trees help prevent city flooding by catching raindrops and offsetting runoff caused by buildings and parking lots.
So lets join the movement to save trees and maintain the sanctity of life cycle. |

Trees represent life on this vast earth. They should be protected at any cost in this era of urbanization & industrialization and global warming.
In Today’s Modern World when everybody is after one another, only these trees are there who live for the benefit of others. There is not a single part of tree which is not useful, with their beautiful foliage, fragrant flowers, cool shade, roots, bark, wood, sprouts and fruits they serve. Nobody returns without benefiting who approaches the tree.
|
Hence, in this era of urbanization we should try to plant trees and save the existing trees from being cut. Most of us are living for the sake of our Children as they are our Future. We should give our children/successors an environment where they can inhale and exhale properly.
Even Lord Krishna compares human life with a Tree. In the Bhagavad Gita, echoing the concept of Kathopanishads, he says human life is like the eternal Ashvattha tree having roots growing above and branches beneath. Lord Kirshna’s message to devotees was: “Be like the Tree.”
So lets awake and join our hands together to join “Haryali” to plant more and more trees so as to give our successors a good and nourishing environment to live-in for.
Let’s plant and nurture Trees – the only gift we can give to this World. |

Dear Friends, Haryali is an organization which saves and plant trees around us. I am proud to be a part of this organization which gives me utter satisfaction that I am doing something for my coming generations.
This is taking a great step in saving environment at a time when people are destroying it in many ways.
We’ve all noticed that temperature is getting warmer. SUVs are getting bigger and hurricanes and earthquakes ravaging the Earth, but is it global warming or a natural occurrence? Or it is because of us.
|
I think in the following way we can save our world
1. Make some efforts of your own or join our organization to plant or save trees.
2. Volunteer your time to conservation projects.
3. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to save resources too.
4. Learn about conservation issues in your community or state. Write your legislators and let them know where you stand on the issues.
5. Teach children to respect nature and the environment. Take them on hikes or camping. Help them plant a tree |

Plantation is not the thing to do when you need it. Its need to felt at every moment of life as every breath you take in is the gift of the plants. Now or then, we forget the contribution of plants in building a powerful society. Every time we get tensed, a strong and irresistible willingness comes from inside to go near a tree.
Just imagine the world without any tree and we get scared of our own imagination. So, it’s not the story to talk a lot about but the need of trees at every corner of the world to be felt immediately.
|
 |
But as we know a single person's voice is heard by none, so let's make it with HARIYALI, an organization which has already felt the need of trees and contributing on its level in the great work of plantation. But Now let’s join it and make it a global campaign so that we can see everywhere HARIYALI and if anything else i.e. HARIYALI. Let's join the great task by promising ourselves to plant a tree (no matter a big banyan tree or a small rose plant) on every birthday of every family member of us.

“The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”
Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with food and many cultural necessities such as shelter, medicine, clothing, tools, heat in the winter and cool shade in the summer. Their beauty adds seasonal character to the landscape and a serene refuge from the demands of daily living. |
Trees help supply oxygen and refresh the air we breathe by utilizing carbon dioxide produced when we exhale and burn fossil fuels. Trees also reduce noise pollution, act as wind buffers and absorb dust and other air pollutants. Trees are the essential link in the food chain of life; they capture sunlight and convert it into energy.
While it is impossible to put a price tag on their natural gifts, we know that trees have a measurable effect on the monetary value of a landscape. In fact, a recent study has shown that up to 20% of a property value lies within its landscape.
The importance of trees in purifying the air, as natural resources, maintaining the ecological balance, preventing soil erosion, as medicines, habitats for faunal species, providing nutrients to the soil etc. is well known
Clearly, trees are an important asset, and as with any asset, it is advantageous to ensure that it continues to appreciate.
The present forest and tree cover in the country according to the State of Forest Report 2001 of the Forest Survey of India is 23.03 per cent. According to the National Forest Policy, the country is required to achieve a forest cover target of 25 per cent by 2007 and 33 per cent cover by 2012. Again, against the National Forest Policy requirement of 33 per cent forest cover in every State, Delhi’s figure is 10.2 per cent. The involvement of people - particularly at the grassroots level - and agencies outside the Government is crucial for achieving these targets. Development Alternatives through its Haryali programme has long been involved in plantation activities across the country. |
